The year is nearing its end, and I thought this would be good to have a reflective post for this year. I’m going to start with bad things and end it with good things that have happened and things I’m looking forward to in 2018.
New year, and hopefully, new beginnings!
Things I did wrong?
Pull a moment out of thin air to give them a “reason” for my distance
1). Don’t lie to satisfy
Replied to messages trying to “explain” myself
2). Don’t put anyone, even yourself, in a box
Never actually telling them off and just “ghosting” them while they were mid-rant
3). Don’t leave important conversation open-ended
“Love inspires you to be noble and courageous, but in real life, love is just an all-purpose excuse for selfish behavior. You can lie and cheat and hurt people, and it’s all okay because you’re in love.”
4). Don’t be stuck between giving people everything — because I am dying to create meaningful relationships — and giving them nothing at all
because then if they leave, at least I’ll be left whole
Things I did right?
1). Losing weight: I’m actually really surprised I was able to lose this much weight this year (15 pounds to be exact) and actually keeping it off! It’s nice being able to wear your old clothes and having them fit. I am planning to lose more weight though, so my weight loss journey hasn’t ended yet!
2). Fading away: Fading away.
3). Picking writing up again: My continuous on-and-off blogging throughout the years has made me remake and delete a decent amount of blogs, butI’m glad I remade a blog this year. Though I don’t post everything I write, some things I write in my journal, blogging has been a good medium for creativity.
Things I’m looking forward to:
- Graduate school! I’m still on the fence about medical school, and I believe following through with a master’s now will give me more direction.
- Hosting dinner parties! Since I have my own place, I’m planning to host more dinner parties or get-togethers.
What are some of the things you’re looking forward to this year? Would love to hear them!
