Holiday Wishlist

By on October 28, 2017

I don’t normally make these wish lists because I normally don’t want anything. Or to better put it, when I get a gift from someone I hope it’s them thinking about me and getting me something and not me telling them what I want. But because of that, it gets tricky, and it doesn’t help that I’m quite picky.

So all my friends who always ask me what I want for birthday and Christmas, this post is dedicated to you.

What do you guys have on your wish list this holiday?

XX,

Elizabeth

Snip, Snip

By on September 21, 2017

With fall about to roll in, and the feeling of wanting to wear something flowy, I pulled out my maxi dress with bright pink flowers. This is actually the only maxi dress I own. I’m 5’2, so I’m pretty short, and most maxi dresses are overflowing and I look like I’m drowning in them.  But I got this from Macy’s INC’s petite section. Even though it’s petite, it’s still pretty long and I actually wearing my wedges to not let the dress hit the floor.

Also, Tyler got a good photo of me as I was on the phone talking to my mother. Thank you, Tyler!

But new update: I decided to dye my hair in a light shade of brown. I didn’t bleach my hair, so it doesn’t look like it too much, but I also got straight bangs again.

The last time I bleached my hair was back in high school. But back then, because I dyed my hair quite often ~ half of college, I was confident in bleaching and dying my hair myself. I really like my hair being in a chesnut shade, but the shade I really want to try once is a pastel color. The upkeep for pastel hair is difficult, and that’s probably why I haven’t tried.

Anyways, why do I have my hair in buns in the first two photos? I wanted to curl my hair, but I knew I didn’t have time during the day to do so before dinner/movie night last Friday. Instead, due to the lack of time, I wrapped them into these two buns after I showered from the night before and left them there all day until after work. The hardest thing about these buns is making sure you split your hair evenly.

The final result is no-heat curled hair! My curled hair lasted all night, so I was pretty happy with the result.

I was looking for some more maxi dresses, and since it’s almost fall most of these dresses are starting to go on sale. Here’s some of my picks (the last one on this widget is my dress but in a different pattern):

Do you guys have any no-heat methods that you do? I have heard people tie their hair in leggings, and it lasts for a couple of days. I haven’t tired that out myself, but it’s nice to have a change in your hair.

Post Labor Day Weekend

By on September 4, 2017

If you’re in California, you know that this Labor Day weekend was fuming hot. Look at me all looking beach ready, but really I ended up staying in town.

I do love these wedges I got from Zappos though! I’ve been on the fence on purchasing them, not such a huge fan of wedges, but they were finally on sale!

Here are some similar swimsuits below (Asos is currently having a sale too!):

For Labor Day weekend, Tim and I hosted a sleepover. We were missing some people from our squad, but that’s okay Michael drove out to see us.

During the day we went wine tasting. We only went to two, but I really enjoyed going to Concannon Wineries. They had the library room open, and it’s a bit more exclusive than the normal wine tasting room and the wines served were more on the “high-end side. You can see in the background, no one is really there. But there were a couple of groups on the side.

Concannon has a nice picnic patio area open to the public, so we sat there for a while.

Or I sat on the tables and Tim and Michael laid on the grass. It may not look like it, but it was 110F out! It wasn’t that bad to be honest because there was still some wind blowing.

For dinner, we went to Wente. Wente is also a vineyard, but they have a restaurant that’s located 10 minutes away from them. I didn’t make a reservation, should have, but I wasn’t sure if everyone wanted a nice dinner or if we wanted to eat at home and make dinner together. They didn’t have any tables insides available unless we wanted to wait an hour (which really isn’t that bad), besides the tables outside and the bar. We sat at the bar.

I didn’t take a photo of our appetizers but I really loved the butter salad. The filet mignon tartare was good, but it wasn’t different from other tartare dishes I’ve had.

For my entrée, I got pork chops. The pork chops were cooked to perfection. It was the perfect crisp.

Here’s a photo of all of us with our entrées!

To end the night, we got dessert! My dessert was a giant cream puff. 😀

Here’s a photo of outside! At night, we went home and watched Scott Pilgrim and Constantine.

Tim gave me flowers Saturday morning, and I wanted to take a photo of them. I went outside, gathered some pebbles, put them in a heart shape, and took a snapshot. Getting my Instagram flatlays on! I update my Instagram a bit more, so follow me there if you want to see more updates.

What did you guys do this Labor Day weekend?

Adieu,

Elizabeth

If this is all we’ll ever be, I’ll just take defeat — cause I know I’d rather be alone

By on August 30, 2017
Date nights in are always nice, and it’s a good way to mix things up from always going out. Lately, I’ve been a much more indoor person. I’ve been quite tired and when I have free time I want to get some R&R.
Tim and I decided to have a nice dinner in, where we would dress up, and have everything set up like we were eating somewhere with stars. We had a bread plate with grapes and prosciutto (should have had cheese, I know). For our meal, we had some pesto pasta with green beans, tomato, and a fried egg and file mignon.
He was surprised I made all of this or more surprised with how I set it up. Props to me!
But anyways, we ended up drinking wine from Bonny Doon (it’s a winery that’s in Santa Cruz). The decoration at the wine tasting room was really unique! They even had a spaceship (mainly due to one of their wine’s history)!  I remember liking Cig Alt E. when I was there for a tasting, but I don’t like it so much now.

My consistency has been lacking with this blog, but I haven’t given up on it yet! It’s been such a whirlwind this past month, but some updates:

-My apartment is finally completed and everything is furnished and decorated (Thank you so much, Tim!). I’ll do another post with images.
-I have a second project at work! It’s very different, but it’s nice to have two things to work on side-by-side.
-I have lost weight! I’m really glad I started DietBet’s Transformer Challenge. So far, I have lost almost 10 pounds (9ish).
-I have finally started working on grad school applications for master programs.
-The temperature here in Livermore has been so awful. It has been fuming hot, and it’s supposed to be worse over the weekend.
-The current news lately has been making me [insert adj]. In the mix of all that’s going on, I’m hoping Houston will make a rapid recovery (and that the relief bill will pass), but those affected by Hurricane Harvey need our help. NPR has narrowed some ways people can donate to help.  I agree that donating to the Red Cross is great, but your dollar can often go further with smaller organizations!
